“He hath showed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the Lord require of thee, but to do justly,
and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God? Micah 6:8
The mystical meaning of the Immaculate Conception entreats all humankind to the highest, yet possible, spiritual attainment. The implication is concurrent with all traditional religions wherein becoming twice-born, a regeneration, a stream entering into a life in communion with the deathless while still abiding within the physical body is the goal to be sought after and achieved. Through Divine Grace the beings who come into this world through “normal” procreation are given the chance to overcome the limitations of physical diminishment by taking unto themselves a life in the Spirit.
As the deathless is achieved, the “trampling down of death by death” occurs by the cutting away from the heart the domination of the ego and it’s habitual ways. Thus our hearts are circumcised, as it were, and we move higher in future realms of incarnation, wherein assuming an angelic-like existence, we are born by Light and walk in the ways of Light.
The Divine incarnation of the Mother of God demonstrated this spotless conception for all that would follow after Her. This Avataric entrance into our world should never be seen as unique. For God dwells amongst us as “Emmanuel - God with us,” to demonstrate the “Way the Truth and the Life” for us to imitate - and become a pure “Imitation of Christ”.
Our inheritance then shall become a pure life, an immaculate existence before the Lord:
“And the Lord thy God will circumcise thine heart, and the heart of thy seed, to love the Lord thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, that thou mayest live... In that I command thee this day to love the Lord thy God, to walk in his ways,
and to keep his commandments and his statutes and his judgments, that thou mayest live”. Deuteronomy 30: 6, 16.
The Angelic Hymn Agni Parthene, O Virgin Mother Pure,
by St. Nectarios, who received in a vision from an angel of the Lord this hymn, where the angel declared:
“This is how we praise the Most Holy Mother of God.”
